Harnessing AI: Why You Must Adapt or Get Left Behind

Chapter 1: The Mindvalley AI Summit Experience
"You will NOT be Replaced by AI, You WILL be Replaced by Someone Who's Using AI," was a striking statement made by Vishen Lachiani, the founder and CEO of Mindvalley. The core message, which I previously highlighted, emphasized the necessity of not just acknowledging AI, but fully integrating it into business processes. Failing to do so will allow competitors to surpass you rapidly. This concern is particularly pressing for content-driven businesses like Mindvalley, where threats can arise from unexpected quarters. Anyone could potentially replicate, modify, or enhance your content, presenting it as their own.
Vishen illustrated this point with a personal example: he had a meditation recording from Mindvalley targeting a specific issue. He needed to adapt that recording for a different problem, so he utilized AI to extract the script, input it into ChatGPT, and requested a revised version for the new context. Subsequently, he employed Eleven Labs to recreate the original voice from the first recording and produce a new audio file with the updated script. Remarkably, this entire process took just minutes! This efficiency underscores the potential for significant time and resource savings.
He didn't have to draft a new script or record a fresh voice-over, as would have been necessary without AI. With ChatGPT costing only $20 monthly and Eleven Labs at a mere $5, the financial investment is minimal. However, there's a pressing concern: if he can accomplish this, so can others—anyone could repurpose Mindvalley's products to create their own educational platform. This isn't a dystopian narrative; it's a legitimate business threat. The solution is clear: leverage AI before others do. Hence, he emphasized, "You either harness the power of AI, or you risk being out of business by the decade’s end."
Consequently, he has ensured that everyone at Mindvalley becomes proficient in AI usage. "If you’re applying for a job, mastering prompt engineering is essential, regardless of whether you're entering HR, Marketing, or any other department!" he asserted. This skill is now as crucial as familiarity with MS Office was over a decade ago—it's a universal requirement for job seekers today. Section 1.1: Insights from Iman Oubou
During Day 1, another significant takeaway was the ChatGPT Prompting Strategy shared by Iman Oubou. Iman is an accomplished entrepreneur, author, scientist, and former beauty queen who has transitioned from research to media and communication, supporting women in their entrepreneurial journeys. She is also the founder of Swaay and the author of "The Glass Ledge," a book aimed at empowering women to overcome challenges and achieve success. Currently, the book is available for free through Amazon Audible.
Iman highlighted that understanding prompting is essential for everyone, regardless of the job they seek. She introduced several tools that can enhance AI utilization:
- A comprehensive website for finding AI solutions tailored to your needs.
- A FREE Chrome extension for ChatGPT prompting called AIPRM, which offers a plethora of pre-made prompts for various writing tasks.
- A resource featuring ready-to-use prompts for Midjourney and other AIs, similar to the Chrome extension.
She also detailed a five-step strategy for leveraging AI to transform businesses, which I will explore in another article. Additionally, Iman is in the process of developing an AI application, and I’ve summarized her and Vishen’s prompting strategies in a separate piece.
Chapter 2: AI Utilization and Legal Challenges
On Day 1, we also learned from Vykintas Glodenis, Mindvalley’s AI Transformation Officer, who shared insights on using Airtable to build an app (the Mindvalley University App) in just 14 days without any coding. His expertise in Airtable and no-code solutions proved invaluable.
Jasmin, Mindvalley’s VP of Legal, addressed potential legal challenges associated with AI, such as copyright issues, privacy concerns, and ethical considerations. She highlighted how biases in AI can emerge from historical data, exemplified by Amazon's past attempts to use AI for assessing job candidates, which unintentionally favored male applicants due to skewed historical hiring practices.
An engaging interview with Naveen Jain, co-founder of Moon Express and CEO of Viome, revealed his innovative work in using AI to analyze various health metrics to predict diseases before they manifest. He shared five essential elements for maintaining health and longevity:
- Nutrition — the body's essential fuel.
- Stress Reduction — ensuring the body is not in constant sympathetic mode to support immune function.
- Movement — 20 to 30 minutes of activity to activate muscles and optimize microbiome function.
- Quality Sleep — focusing on achieving deep and REM sleep rather than merely counting hours.
- Finding Your Purpose — individuals with a sense of purpose tend to live longer, dedicating their lives to something meaningful.
For further reading, here’s a book by Naveen that I found enlightening, focusing on creating a life of abundance, currently free with an Amazon Audible subscription.
That wraps up my insights from Day 1 at the Mindvalley AI Summit. I look forward to sharing more intriguing concepts from the subsequent days in my upcoming articles.
