In our fast-paced lives, we often overlook the essential need for loving kindness, both towards ourselves and others. Taking time for self-care is crucial for our mental and emotional well-being.

There's a certain comfort in the loving kindness meditations available on the Calm app. They seem to resonate deeply, reminding me to slow down, focus inward, and reset my mind.

I inherently possess a positive outlook on life. Yet, there are moments when stress takes over. During these times, I find my breathing becomes shallow, and a weight seems to press down on my chest.

This is when I consciously redirect my thoughts to the many blessings in my life. I envision my family—my husband, children, son-in-law, and grandson—individually. I also consider the joy of still having both my parents around, alongside my sister, brother-in-law, and my four wonderful nephews.

Visualizing my loved ones helps me shift my perspective. The stress that once enveloped me dissipates, replaced by warm feelings of love and joy.

If your family does not evoke feelings of tranquility and happiness, consider the people who do bring you comfort. Alternatively, reflect on a cherished place or moment from your past that ignited happiness within you. Allow yourself to relive those joyful memories.

I often associate challenges with failure, a habit I'm actively trying to change. I'm learning to view obstacles as valuable lessons that lead to personal growth.

Recognizing the toll it was taking on me, I chose to step back. Initially, I felt like I had failed by not fulfilling my obligations.
