The Universe Is Conspiring: Are You Ready to Embrace It?

Understanding the Universe's Role in Your Journey
The idea that the universe has your back is beautifully expressed by Paulo Coelho in The Alchemist, where he states, "And when you desire something, all the universe conspires in aiding you to attain it." While I have always held this belief close, I must admit my conviction has wavered at times. Let me explain why.
The universe requires you to make a decision—it's as simple as that. Yes, I'm addressing myself here, but if the shoe fits, wear it! I’ve always felt there was a grand purpose or a guiding force in my life. Although I've stepped away from organized religion, I still sense that there's a greater reason behind it all. I refer to this force as the universe when speaking to others, but when I talk to myself, I use the term "Agape," which means universal love in Greek. To me, it encapsulates everything.
Now, back to the matter at hand. I have a desire, and the universe is eager to fulfill it. So, what stands in the way? Ah, you've walked right into my trap! The problem arises when I can’t pinpoint exactly what I want. I end up changing my mind frequently, which sends the universe scrambling to manifest my latest wish. But before I can embrace my new goal, I find myself wanting something else. Do you see the dilemma?
Recently, I’ve come to terms with this cycle. Yes, I might be a tad slow on the uptake. But remember, don’t follow my example blindly. Do as I suggest, not as I do!
Writing has always been my passion; I just didn’t recognize it until recently. No, I’m not lacking in intelligence, but sometimes I wonder. My mother's influence has led to a lifelong struggle with self-esteem, making it hard for me to accept that I have something worthwhile to share. It has taken time to reach this understanding, and I don’t need your sarcasm, thank you very much!
Throughout my journey, I've penned four novels and countless journal entries, often quitting in frustration. I told myself it was too challenging and found numerous excuses to stop. But eventually, I began writing again, and this time it felt different. The words flowed effortlessly, and I found joy in the creative process. I resolved to pursue this passion for the long haul, and I meant every word.
The universe, having heard my declarations before, probably sighed and thought, "Really, Brenda? Are you serious this time?" But not the universe—it embraced me and said, "Alright, I’ll help you, but you must prove it to yourself."
Once you make a decision, you quickly realize that the hard part is just beginning. The real challenge comes when the machinery of life starts moving, and you must put in the hard work. For the following six months, I dedicated myself to writing, all while feeling the weight of my family's future resting on my shoulders. Talk about pressure!
Surprisingly, I didn’t falter. This time, even while writing about topics as mundane as golf balls and dog worms, I persevered. I would emerge from my workspace looking like I had survived a zombie apocalypse, but I was still standing—well, leaning, maybe—but I was in love with the process. Once I caught my breath, I realized why: because I was writing. I was proving to myself that I could accomplish this, regardless of the challenges and stakes involved.
I didn’t need to prove anything to the universe; it already recognized my potential. The real revelation came from within. Now, I am confident that writing is my lifelong passion. Just two days ago, the universe conspired to reward my efforts—I secured my first significant client. It’s reliable income and a wonderful partnership that draws on all my skills and interests.
If that isn’t a sign of the universe conspiring in my favor, I don’t know what is. Or perhaps it’s just the universe showing compassion for this determined, somewhat disheveled writer who is eager to share her words with all of you lovely readers.
Who can say for sure?
