Navigating the World of Writing: Authenticity vs. Fabrication
Written on
Chapter 1: The Illusion of Authenticity
Have you ever wondered if every tale shared on Medium is genuine? The reality might surprise you; a considerable portion—estimated at over 70%—is purely fictional. Users tend to keep their private lives under wraps, and, interestingly, some of these fabricated stories often garner more attention and revenue. Medium can feel more like a game than a platform for honest expression.
Most of us joined with financial motives in mind, right? The true craft of writing lies in how one weaves together words to create engaging narratives. Some individuals possess a remarkable talent for this.
It's quite a challenge to consistently produce and publish 5 to 10 articles each day on Medium. Even if writing were your sole focus, it would be nearly impossible; our brains aren't machines, after all. Perhaps that doesn't apply to you, but I know it resonates with many.
In this space, some individuals may not be entirely genuine. Should I downplay my progress or remain silent about my growth? We all assume roles and respond to various stimuli. While most users appear pleasant on Medium, not everyone shares genuine goodwill.
To thrive, you must foster meaningful connections. Writing alone isn't enough; you need to engage with the community to avoid being overlooked. Balancing your writing and interaction—say, dedicating 80% of your time to writing and 20% to engagement—is crucial for visibility. It can feel quite restrictive, can’t it?
When you spot grammatical mistakes in our posts, remember that many of us are not native English speakers and we write our pieces ourselves. Anyone willing to share a grammar-check tool? I could certainly use the help!
Stay committed to your writing journey; laziness won’t get you far. What techniques are you currently employing? Share your insights with us! Embrace what works for you, and don’t fall behind.
Much love to everyone!
